Honouring the National Anthem

Fifteen years ago I wrote about honouring the National Anthem.  Whether it is yours or not, stand up straight and keep your hands down by your sides unless your right hand has other duties.

Under no circumstances is a National Anthem to be booed, like the other day at a hockey game. The hockey players had nothing to do with it.

Many anthems beseech God to look after the country and protect it from evil. It is more or less a prayer. Treat it with the same respect.

And having said all that, yes, I go out of my way to buy Canadian.
